About Me.

As a classroom teacher of well over a decade, I am no stranger to content/curriculum development and design. I have collaboratively developed, vetted, and implemented district-wide English Language Arts Curriculum as well as served as a school leader facilitating and fostering collaboration and adherence of objectives in my roles as a grade level team leader and writing center director. In short, creating meaningful, engaging, and authentic learning experiences that meet all the needs of my learners, is sort of my jam.

Like many teachers during the 2020-21 school year, I traded my traditional classroom for a virtual one.  I knew there would be challenges, but what I didn't expect was just how much I gained and learned from the experience. I'd always readily integrated technology within my classroom and planning, but my year online gave me an invaluable toolset of technological resources and assets.

Through my experience teaching online, I discovered that much of my passion for education and learning comes from content creation and designing thoughtful and meaningful experiences. I hope to leverage and combine my experiences and knowledge as a teacher with the skill and practice I am getting through JMU's eLearning Master's Certificate. Through this certificate, I hope to bridge the knowledge and skill gaps I might  have as an instructional designer while continuing to hone and develop the skill sets I already possess.
